Abdomen

The abdomen is the place where storage fat is deposited. It is frequently the case, even in people with slim constitution, that normal daily exercise or special diet cannot help to reduce this fat. Without enough exercise or after giving birth, also the ihned abdominal wall becomes more relaxed and the protruding abdomen is far from any ideals of beauty.

The abdomen can be reshaped with good diet, exercise and other ways of fighting the excessive weight. This can be achieved (by some people) at home without medical supervision or by an individually designed medically supervised pathway prepared according to the individual needs in Asklepion.

Supporting the shape and tone of the skin of the abdomen is achievable with cosmetic preparations and therapies to some extent. Asklepion offers to clients top cosmetic preparations and cosmetic body programmes Orlane and Decleor, which are designed specifically for these parts of the body.

The other methods of figure remodelling, which are available to clients in Asklepion, are therapies with specific body instruments. The most sought after are Bodyter, Dermosonic, Aerosonic and Aerofat. All help to tone the body and reduce the unwanted shape of the abdomen. Bodyter combines warmth with passive exercise induced by an electric current, Dermosonic, Aerosonic and Aerofat use ultrasound with vacuum massage.

Liposuction, the removal of fat from the abdomen, can be managed by Asklepion clients during one day hospitalization. It is done with the vibration method, with an instrument called Vibrasat, which gently hammers fat cells from areas where there is an excessive accumulation of fat. The method is very gentle, there is much less postoperative swelling and bruising than with classical liposuction, and recovery is much quicker as well. Because in areas of removed fat the whole structure of skin and the adjacent tissue is newly rebuilt, clients have to wear special compression underwear for 4–6 weeks after the procedure. Patients should abstain from work for approximately one week.

There are not too many procedures which bring such a dramatic change to the body appearance as the plastic surgery of the abdomen. The surgical procedure is rather demanding, where the excess of skin and fat is removed. It is performed under general anaesthetic usually with 2–3 days of hospitalization. This operation can stop even the untightness of the abdominal wall which can lead to so called false hernia. Not all cases finish without some scaring. The sutures are removed after 7–10 days, but the healing of the abdominal wall takes around 6–8 weeks. It is because of this that patients involved with any physical work have to plan a minimum of three weeks convalescence.
