Gingivitis
The mild gingivitis is not noticeable untill it is associated with visible bleeding. This can lead to catastrophic neglect, when causes are not investigated and removed. It would be a wrong approach to try to avoid bleeding by not brushing your teeth properly thinking that the gums should be protected. The opposite is true and the perfect hygiene may lead to healing of the inflammation. The healthy gums don’t bleed!
The professional removal of the tooth plaque by the dentist is considered in Asklepion as not only aesthetic service to the client but also the medical necessity for health of teeth and therapy of gums. The removal of the plaque is not pleasant for some patients but overall it is not a painful procedure.
In Asklepion we use the hand instruments for the removal of the plaque or even ultrasound. If there is the plaque deposition on the surface of the roots it is necessary to remove that with special dental instruments, such as curettes.
The more complicated is the plaque removal from teeth with a few roots and deep periodontal pockets, which are the free spaces between the roots and gums. Occasionally there is needed the surgical procedure of removing plaques during which gums have to be turned away.
After the plaque removal by the dentist the patient’s compliance to continue the future faith of clean teeth is required, because with inadequate hygiene plaques restarts to form again very quickly. It endangers the teeth and gums once again. This is why the oral hygiene education as the method of future clients’ health is a part of any dental examination in our clinic.
