Spider veins
Dilated red or blue veins and the reddened skin are problematic for women in different parts of the western world. They appear often in pregnancy, during hormonal changes, in obesity, in people who drink too much alcohol, or as a sign of different medical conditions. They appear most frequently on face, on legs, around ankles and knees. Not only they are aesthetically uncomfortable but they lead to other complications when they become inflamed and the skin thickens.
In Asklepion are available all advanced instruments which are used at present for removing these abnormalities. The therapy of these conditions was performed by us for tens of thousands of patients and we are now highly experienced in treating them.
The excellent results are achieved with lasers for example the laser Vbeam, which removes vennules up to 4 mm in diameter. The rays caught in veins „burn” them and the body mechanism absorbs the fragments.
The other laser GentleLASE, removes the lightly blue vennules of 1–2mm in diameter which are found typically on legs around the ankles, where without any treatment the discolouration progresses continuously.
The skin becomes reddish after the treatment, there can be a scab formation, which later drops off. The laser therapy is successful in 75 % of patients. In the majority of cases the effect is permanent. The risk of scaring is only 1:10 000. It is necessary to return to the clinic for the completion of therapy in 6–8 weeks time. In patients predisposed to the formation of these thread veins the procedure has to be repeated during next few years again.
We can treat also the dermatological aspects of rosacea, where the excessively red complexion appears in response to emotional stimuli or exposure to heat or the ingestion of different hot food. The instrument Ellipse Flex removes this diffuse reddening with 100% results, and there is a complete recovery in a few hours time.
