Sweating

Besides the ordinary sweating, which is essential for lowering of temperature and excreting of some harmful products, many people suffer with hyperhidrosis, the excessive sweating. This can be due to endocrine abnormality or a sign of some general illness. There can be a localized hyperhidrosis, meaning excessive function of sweat glands in certain areas such as the palms, on the soles, in the armpits or around shoulders. This is frequently associated with mental instability and unhealthy lifestyle.

Not too many people know that in Asklepion this symptom can be easily cured.

There are a few traditional ways, the best known is to fight the excessive weight. We recommend that everybody is examined by specialists to ensure that there is not any serious underlying condition which if discovered can be treated differently.

Occasionally the only treatment necessary is a single injection of botulin toxin. The principle of this therapy is the interruption of impulse from nerves to the sweat glands. The botulin toxin is injected by a very thin needle under the skin of the affected area. The infiltration around the glands inactivates them and the sweating is limited if not completely stopped. The effect is obvious in about 2–5 days. If there is stress the body sends signals, instructions for the sweat glands to release sweat; but there is no response, sweating is stopped. The effects are individual, they can last up to one year or longer. The treatment can be repeated as necessary. This method is especially valuable if sweating is stress related.

In some patients simple relaxation can lead to final improvement by unblocking the stress. We can help this with variety of cosmetic therapies, facial or for the whole body, including massages. The latter are helpful for general relaxation but also help regeneration, when the whole body reaches better state of health with this regular therapy.
