Tattoos
The tattoo, which is caused by the introduction of a foreign pigment under the skin, is frequently created without too much thinking, during a sudden spark of enthusiasm, but the results are difficult to be reversed. Beside this intentional type there is also traumatic kind of tattooing, which results from injuries where there are bits of dirt introduced into skin, which are difficult, specifically later on, to be removed.
In Asklepion the different lasers can make most of tattoos to disappear with the minimal pain, without any bleeding, and without risks of scarring.
The winner in the tattoos laser removal is definitely AlexLAZR, which during a fraction of a second breaks the pigments into the minute particles. The effect is best with black and dark blue colour; it has reasonably good results with different shades of green, but is not very helpful with red and yellow.
The procedure has to be repeated a few times, before the tattoo is completely removed. The pigmentation is in a few layers, and laser has to break them gradually. The average amateur tattoo can be removed after one to three sessions. For the professional tattoos the therapy needs to be repeated three to four times and in some cases even eight times.
In any case total removal takes a long time because there have to be six weeks intervals between the treatments. After the therapy is completed there is no way of recognizing even under the microscopic examination that the skin was tattooed.
In very exceptional cases the Erbium laser is used for this problem, which removes tattoos including the top layer of skin during the first session. It is a radical, quick, and very cheap method. The disadvantage is the wounded area, occasionally scaring, which is left after this treatment.
Following the procedure, when the tattoos are removed, it is necessary to protect the skin for about three months against the sun rays. Our experience indicates that creams with the high protection factor such as Photoderm are very useful.
