Wisdom teeth
Wisdom teeth, also called „the eights”or 3rd molars, can start to cause problems even before they appear on the surface. Frequently the volution of the human body causes the shrinkage of human jaw, and the 3rd molars don’t fit the mouth. The cutting through gums is painful and associated with other discomfort such as inflammation and swelling. Wisdom teeth can also press on the front teeth, lead to formation of crooked teeth and cause other aesthetic problems.
The preventive checking!
The wisdom teeth cause frequently difficulties. The eights are often hidden in mouth, they grow sideway, don’t cut through the gums properly, and it is difficult for the latter reason to reach them with the tooth brush. In Asklepion a special attention is paid to complications of decay or inflammation of the surrounded tissue followed by associated medical problems.
The x-rays!
The patients who are symptomatic because of wisdom teeth should undergo x-rays of the jaws. It reveals the position of wisdom teeth if they successfully cut through gums and if there is any need for some preventive steps before the problems start.
The oral hygiene!
The immediate visit to dentist is necessary if there is any evidence of pain, increased temperature, or there are problems with opening of mouth or swallowing. This can be due to inflammation which if left unattended will lead to further complications. Sometimes it is helpful to calm inflammation by improving oral hygiene with the irrigation with mouth washes containing chlorhexidine for example Cleandent.
The removal of wisdom teeth!
The extraction of the eights is not a very dramatic procedure if performed by an experienced dentist. The discomfort during healing corresponds to the state of these teeth before the surgery. If the teeth are positioned within the jaw in very wrong position, their extraction can last even a few hours. The patient doesn’t have to suffer, thanks to the choice of adequate analgesia used during this procedure.
