Yellow teeth
More and more people are unhappy about the colour of their teeth. Lately, it is not good enough to even have teeth as white as famous celebrities! The whitening is accepted as a part of the standard care of teeth. The cause of yellow or greyish teeth includes food, drinks and cigarettes. In addition there is some degree of the individual genetic make up, as well as accidents and or types of medication.

Oral hygiene!
Often the professional cleaning of teeth considerably improves the colour – the depuration done with rotating instruments or ultrasound removes all accumulated pigments on the surface of teeth.
Preventive measures are essential and include really effective oral hygiene. The dentist or the hygienist will help with these techniques. Specific products such as Rembrandt toothpaste helps to whiten teeth during regular daily cleaning.
Home whitening!
The method of home whitening consists of wearing a special teeth fitting case, which is filled with whitening gel containing Hydrogen Peroxide, for a few hours daily. The concentration should not exceed 10 %; a higher concentration of peroxide doesn’t whiten the teeth more quickly but their sensitivity markedly increases, for example to cold air, and there is also some risk of gum irritation.
Clinic procedures!
The principle of clinic whitening is based on solutions of Hydrogen Peroxide. This time the doctor uses higher concentration (up to 35%).
This is possible because he preventively protects treated areas by a special resin. A dramatic change is achievable in one or two hours. The clinic procedure is recommended to patients, who want to have everything finished within 90 minutes.
The „activated clinic whitening” uses the blue light Rembrandt, which multiplies the effect of peroxide gel. In addition, the effectiveness of whitening is increased by the use of lasers.
Veneers and crowns!
Following an unsuccessful whitening procedure, the colour can be changed and corrected further by veneers with the additional advantage of improving teeth shape at the same time. This can be done by minor filling of the front tooth enamel and applying half millimetre layer veneers on that site. Of course, if the tooth is badly damaged, a crown is the best option. The colour, shape and position of teeth can be altered as necessary.
